I also think the truth will eventually come out - so many already know. This will of course be a major plot line this season so I hope they do a good job with it. I am also rooting for Lord Merton and Isobel. The acting on this show is superb!!Michellenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-36663187097982030562015-02-21T13:03:40.468-05:002015-02-21T13:03:40.468-05:00I am still rooting for Lord Merton because the sto...I am still rooting for Lord Merton because the story line will be a lot more interesting if she suddenly has major status! with the Doc, she will be just a simple do-gooder.

And I think it will come out eventually that Marigold is Edith's daughter. Hope so, fingers crossed. I would hate something horrible to happen and have Marigold ripped away from her yet again.

And I love Isobel Crawley and wish her a happy married life, but I was always on Team Dr. Clarkson. :) Hope she tells Lord Merton to take a hike since he was mute and didn't defend her to his ridiculous sons, and then marries the good doctor. h2o_girlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-71781113570961234082015-02-18T22:05:00.631-05:002015-02-18T22:05:00.631-05:00The Mrs. Crawley story line also related to my own...The Mrs. Crawley story line also related to my own life. Having come from a working class family, and married someone who went to an Ivy school, and living and working among people who went to the best schools and preps schools, I have been well aware of certain snubs. Certainly nothing as raw as Lord Merton's awful son's, but I feel the knife of snobbery every now and then. I'm afraid Mrs. Crawley is going to back off. And I so wanted her to rise above The Dowager Countess, the indomitable Maggie Smith, just to see the story play out--not because I don't like her--I do. And she has the best lines ever!

Lorraine Duskyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18285341379272250245noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-15818500238546019292015-02-18T20:56:41.686-05:002015-02-18T20:56:41.686-05:00I don't watch Downton Abbey, but I love Call t...I don't watch Downton Abbey, but I love Call the Midwife, and they have had several adoption storylines. I'm not sure if you've been watching it? The Christmas special this past year had me a little worked up until the end, and then I really liked how they tied it up. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who may want to watch it, though.Tiffanynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-28518330439986377212015-02-18T19:38:56.730-05:002015-02-18T19:38:56.730-05:00 I wonder whether the writers felt that the audien... I wonder whether the writers felt that the audience would be comfortable with this story line because Edith is rich. Suppose instead the story went like this. Edith has a child who dies. She is distraught. Farmers come to her and tell her their single daughter is pregnant and they cannot afford another child. Edith takes the baby. Within a few months the daughter asks for her baby back Edith refuses. I suspect the writers would make Edith the sympathetic character and the audience would agree that Edith keeping the baby was the right thing.

In other words, the story line may not be pro-natural family but pro-upper class.Bettynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-20463894145304458512015-02-18T15:20:18.567-05:002015-02-18T15:20:18.567-05:00I was relieved that Edith & Cora found a way t...I was relieved that Edith & Cora found a way to keep Marigold at Downton. Although I wish everyone *inside* the family--Robert, Tom, and Mary--knew the truth, I'm sure that future story lines will rely on this dramatic device to create chaos within the family. I'm cautiously optimistic. I think Mrs. Hughes & Anna are already figuring it out...

And poor Mrs. Crawley, her "adventure" might be crushed by her would-be snobby step-sons. Let's hope Lord Merton is strong enough to weather their disapproval! Maybe the Dowager will have to step in to make it right. ;-)Sunnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13795973322596893070noreply@blogger.com
