No idea why. Let me see if I can fix. I am one of the fortunate few in NJ who have power now, although it has been off for hours twice. Trees and branches are still falling and taking down power lines. The area that got hardest hit was the shore with the storm surge and terrible flooding. We are way inland and the major issue here was the wind that howled all night like the banshee and downed trees and power lines. I doubt Lo has power, Long Island was hit hard too as were the lower areas of NYC.

Almost all boardwalks along the Jersey shore suffered terrible damage and the barrier islands flooded as bay and sea came together. Worst storm ever in this area is no exaggeration but we are fine and my son and wife in south jersey but also inland in his new home are fine too, but without power. I hope you are all safe and well too.maryannenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-63712582285412096672012-10-30T17:34:11.869-04:002012-10-30T17:34:11.869-04:00The inclusion of Nancy Verrier has turned me off t...The inclusion of Nancy Verrier has turned me off to this particular contest. I personally like her work and it was the first thing I ever came across that validated that being adopted can be very painful for the child. Just about everything else out there was about how being adopted was the same as being a bio-kid, infants were blank slates, the adoptive parents are the REAL parents, adopted children were as if born to, etc. ad nauseaum.

I guess I would have to agree with you about Korea. Whenever I hear that someone has adopted a child from Korea, I feel rather sick to my stomach. It certainly sounds like they are having a BSE and that there is a very high probability that the n-mother was forced to give the child up.

Thanks for the update about Lorraine. I hope that Maryanne, Mirah, Elaine P, Susan P and all of the other New Jersey, New York, and east coast readers will check in as soon as possible to let us all know they are okay.

You mentioned foster children and I have a question about that. If these children get adopted when they are older will they then get an amended birth certificate and have trouble getting a driver's license or passport due to the homeland security rules? I can't bear to think of that happening to these children who have already suffered so much.Robinnoreply@blogger.com
