You need to go to the courthouse in the county where the adoption took place. This may or may not be the county where your son was born.

If you don't know the county contact the adoption agency or the Department of Human Services and they will give you the county and file number. I have obtained court permission to receive my son's adoption records. However, at this time, I cannot obtain them as, apparently, I need the adoptee's parents names (and or...) the child's name. This is probably due to the filing system in 1969. I was so distraught that I did not process if they needed all three names but I do not believe so (probably only the parents. They apparently are either unable or unwilling to contact the Oregon Assisted Search and Registry program which does have the names of the parents and my son. It is all very confusing to me, but I will not give up. I have several gov. agencies whom are trying to help me. All of this has happened fairly recently. I would welcome suggestions.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-36436994404895214022015-05-04T10:32:51.482-04:002015-05-04T10:32:51.482-04:00If you click a certain box when you post a comment...If you click a certain box when you post a comment, you will be an automatic notice in your email that someone has responded. I am the first mother of a child born in Eugene, Oregon in 1969. I have searched for my son for 40 plus years. His birth father died last year. I am very excited about the enactment of Senate Bill 623. However, it is confusing. I called the court in the county where he was born and they could give me no information as to how to go about filing. Does it have to be filed in the county in which he was born? I have other questions. Has anyone gone through the process and would they be willing to share their experience?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-26169269190425438712013-04-16T02:01:58.211-04:002013-04-16T02:01:58.211-04:00very nice blog i appreciate you for this effort.i ...very nice blog i appreciate you for this effort.i have also created a blog for mother that help being mother challenges names: www.beingmother.com
please find best articles on it regarding this
thanksSumair Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05430918197551902048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-70948365560963968622013-04-15T10:22:20.080-04:002013-04-15T10:22:20.080-04:00"Counseling" is just another way for the..."Counseling" is just another way for them to be control freaks all over us. It is also a way to treat all of us, first mothers and adoptees like the bad little children they want us to feel like.
Bout time Oregon is doing what it is doing, and I hope all states exhibit the same intelligence very soon!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-91321504281346227082013-04-14T19:13:47.558-04:002013-04-14T19:13:47.558-04:00I don't think people truly stop and think abou...I don't think people truly stop and think about how ridiculous it is that adoptees and first parents can't get information on themselves or their children.

I've said "Imagine wanting to know things about yourself and the government is telling you NO!"

My stepfather was born in 1929 and was adopted later that year. His first wife was also, amazingly an adoptee. (I found that an unusual coincidence.) She was a couple of years older than he was.

Anyway, my step-brothers and sisters had absolutely no information on their history. My mother was able to petition for my stepfather's records (born in California, adopted in Texas).

She was granted the records but what killed me was that before they would give them to her and my step-sister, they had to have a "counseling session" from whatever agency had inherited the records. And of course the "counseling session" was not free. (One last way to profit from the whole thing I guess!)

It was ridiculous to begin with, but especially since it was probably safe to assume that my step-father's mother was dead. (This was about ten years ago and he has now passed away.)

Sure enough she had passed away in 1958 without ever having more children. So what did the agency think anyone needed to be "counseled" about??

My mom was able to later get records for my step-siblings mom's adoption also. Not quite as much red tape there.

Anyway just wanted to share a personal story about seeing firsthand the struggle for what every human should have: Information on their parents and their birth.

Most people take that for granted. If they didn't, the open records movement wouldn't be such a battle...A Second Momnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-15955810942185703132013-04-14T18:01:56.112-04:002013-04-14T18:01:56.112-04:00Jane,
