I am a member of Not For Sale and pray daily for these innocent ones.

I also gave up a child for adoption 37 years ago and understand the heartbreak. The thought gives me hope that facts and compassion can prevail. Thanks for giving me another name to add to my list.

A friend told me about Orphanology: Awakening to GospelCentered Adoption and Orphan Care. This weekend I looked at the reviews of the book on Amazon, although I knew better, and was reminded that we have a long way to go before those like PEAR, Dr. Boas, and now Mr. Grennan are the majority voice when it comes to intercountry adoption.Jeaninehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10915148591163004010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-11173932743201562972011-04-10T11:10:55.166-04:002011-04-10T11:10:55.166-04:00Thanks for posting this.

I can't help wondering if the girl--it's almost always a girl--was stolen and sold to an orphanage which makes it all seem legal and fine and dandy by the time they get to this country. I'm sure other people say, Oh, isn't that nice, aren't they good people, but I know it's not that simple, the child is there not because he or she may have actually needed a home, but because that person was determined to get a child.

And I'm sure if you started talking to them about how so many children are available from Guatamala, India, Nepal etc. they would like at you like you were crazy. Most people are clueless about the reality of international adoption--and many adoptive parents especially, because they don't want to know.

Not all adoptive parents are like that, but way way way too many are totally ignorant and want to stay that way.Viktorianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-19455532897686189162011-04-09T21:31:27.168-04:002011-04-09T21:31:27.168-04:00Excellent review, thank youExcellent review, thank youjoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15658928829424953809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-574300303008890516.post-892944073246896872011-04-08T23:03:13.596-04:002011-04-08T23:03:13.596-04:00For the back-story to Little Princes, read the ful...For the back-story to Little Princes, read the full thread:

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/thread.jspa?threadID=2032255&start=0&limit=1000Henry Scobiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17340658386259456037noreply@blogger.com
