"Choosing Adoption" segments running on Today this week in conjunction with National Adoption Month are what you'd expect: happy vignettes designed to reassure those seeking to adopt that, yes, you can get a baby and that openness and reunions can be positive. The segments ignore as much as possible those who make adoption possible--first mothers. "Choosing Adoption" does not provide new insights and, so far, ignores the purpose of National Adoption Month, which is finding permanent families for children in foster care. I was not disappointed in the superficiality of the show, just relieved that it was not worse.
